The Vicissitudes of Life:
Holding Hope through Aging, Loss, and Death
I, like everyone else, have dealt with COVID for a year, but I have managed to have a good year despite the craziness around me as I have dived into both photography and my work. However, it became harder to keep my equanimity when death and serious illness came in closer after the death of a friend and the serious illness of another. Close after that, my daughter’s whole household tested positive for COVID, and then my husband found out he needs to go in for a heart procedure, and just three weeks after that I will turn 72. These events have gotten me thinking more about aging, change, and loss, and how to hold hope through this time. This has inspired me to make images to reflect these thoughts and feelings. Nature is where I replenish myself, so I have focused on capturing the essence of nature.
