Abundance in a Parched Land
A wise spiritualist once said, “Abundance flourishes in a grateful heart.”
And so it is with the Sonoran Desert. Even though rain is scarce, and the rocky soil has been baked for millennia, this desert explodes in an abundance of flora, fauna, and minerals that grace the land. The desert has learned to be grateful for each drop of rain that falls. The mountains share their portion with the valley below. Seedlings wake up with only a tiny sprinkle. The Saguaro cactus conserves the precious drops for times of drought. And when the monsoon season returns, the desert drinks with gratitude, and the cycle of abundance is renewed again.
I too am grateful as I wander in this parched land with my camera in hand. I give thanks to the desert for its wisdom and breathtaking beauty. And in return the desert gifts me with its abundant patience as I try to paint its soul.
